When to Buy

The right time to buy is generally dictated more by personal circumstances than timing the market. We always promote long-term home ownership (minimum 3-5 years) in order to have the highest likelihood of realizing a significant gain in your investment.

What will you do later?

When considering your personal timeline for home ownership, it’s also wise to consider what you will do with the property after you plan to move out. Do you think you will need to sell the property in order to buy a new primary residence? Or do you want to turn the property into an investment property and rent it out for an increased level of income? Many people have at least one investment property in their portfolio to diversify their assets and defer their taxes by doing what is known as “1031 exchanges“.
